Dreamcast it is a console blessed with great virtue. Any of the video games that make up its catalog is capable of entertaining you. Without a doubt, we are talking about a machine ahead of its time and possibly the last console created out of pure love for the video game.
We have always been fond of reading. However, it has only been relatively recently that interesting books about our favorite hobby have started to appear (magazines don't count). One of the last that we have had the opportunity to read has been Dreamcast, the eternal dream, of Enrique Segura Mayor.
As the author expresses well, this work is not only a book about the last great console of SEGA. It is a sincere tribute to a way of making video games that endures over time. A journey through it hand in hand with a catalog of games that more than 20 years later they continue to maintain their arcade, rebellious and fresh spirit.
The book is a very personal dedication. A love letter for an unrepeatable console that also acts as a guide through its history, catalog and peripherals. In this work you will find all the information you need to know about Dreamcast. Inside it lie the keys that will make the newcomer understand the reason why his legacy lives on in the hearts of many players and all the reasons that make it a unique console.
Dreamcast, the eternal dream It is a book that exudes affection from the first minute. Through its hard cover and thanks to its design, it evokes the first time that you held between your hands that box that contained the large white console of SEGA. A recommended book for Spanish-speaking readers who love this platform and for those who did not know it at the time and wish to embark on the exciting world of the Dreamcast.
Damn, that looks good. The edit is the dick. (And the little review, too, by the way).
The only thing I can disagree with, a bit, is that it is the latest console made for the love of video games. I believe that no massive console has ever been made for the love of games. Games is another story. But consoles are made to earn money, since they were born until today. If it had been made for love, it would have been much cheaper. And their games the same. They would have been sold to cover costs and that's it. But it was not like that. In fact, I think that if Sega had not released Dreamcast and had not lost so much money, if it had been dedicated to software only before the cataclysm, perhaps, so many franchises would not have died with their consoles. Because in the end, that a console or that a company stops doing them is the least. The important thing is that they keep releasing games, in whatever systems, but that they come out. And the worst are the great Sega sagas that fell.
Where can you buy the book?
Of course, all consoles and video games are made to make money, this is a business, but there are different ways or styles of doing it. The charm of the Dreamcast catalog and the love that this machine treasures easily deserve a separate chapter in the history of the video game. SEGA had been losing money due to other mistakes of the past and this very possibly ended up condemning it in advance. Dreamcast was going to be the salvation, they played it all with a dream machine and it did not go well.
The book can be purchased through Dolmen Editorial and by Amazon
I believe that Dreamcast does not have a very different concept from previous Sega consoles. With the peripheral theme it is another story. It was the first to bring some serial stuff, that's true, and its catalog has some of the best games in history, although some ended up being multis later. But there are the Shenmue, Shenmue 2, Soul Calibur, Virtua Tennis, RE CV and Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. Absolute TOP games. He had many more, of course. And very good. But like these I name, very few games have been made on any system.
Any topic related to Dreamcast interests me already and the book looks great. Thanks for the review, Rubio!
I think this console is one of the most authentic that has been launched and I still do not understand why it failed so prematurely. We turned our backs on a console created by and for gamers. He had very good ideas but Don Dinero rules this industry.
It still seems like a great plan to connect her from time to time and give me some good flaws to her exclusives that are brutal.
