BornToPlay has turned 10 years old. It seems like yesterday when two people decided with great enthusiasm to create a blog to talk about our favorite hobby. It all started on February 18, 2011.
In the first five years there has always been a single person, a server, developing content at the forefront, while Nataka it exercised the important task of maintaining the structure and improving the staging.
Since its inception, the objective of this website has always been the same: to talk about video games in a special way, striving every day to create different content for people who understand video games as more than just a hobby. Detaching ourselves from the mainstream media with more personal, careful and independent texts is our main premise.
In the course of this adventure we have been accompanied by some friends and occasional collaborators who later went their own way. Voyevodus, Bladerunner, Kicker9, Chovi Y Ginger, editors who have contributed their great experience through valuable texts and who, to a greater or lesser extent, are part of this story. BornToPlay will always have its doors open for them.
This moment of gratitude would not be complete without re-quoting Nataka (co-founder and web master) Y Carlangas that with their valuable effort and great experience, in different stages, have contributed to developing and enhancing the performance and image of BornToPlay during its history. Without them, all this would not have been possible.
As I was saying, 10 years go a long way. As founder and editor-in-chief at times I have thought about the effort invested all this time. From time to time I wondered what the result of this work would be, beyond the personal satisfaction of maintaining a project dedicated to your favorite hobby.
One good day the answer came, because 2020 has been key for BornToPlay. During the past year you have witnessed the growth it has experienced, resulting in a greater amount of content published regularly, a renewed image of the website and the inauguration of our YouTube channel. This has been possible thanks to the formation of a great writing and editing team that selflessly have believed with the same force in this project. Belmont, Ruryk, Anubis Y blunt, I give you my sincere thanks. BornToPlay is getting bigger every day thanks to your support and experience. Now it is also your project.
The best recognition has been to be able to continue talking about video games every week with more force and in a wider way thanks to teamwork. We face this new stage full of enthusiasm and wanting much more. We are aware that there are many video game media and channels, some very good, but I can assure you that the dedication, passion and affection that we put into each of the texts that we publish on BornToPlay makes a difference.
We are a team made up of players who belong to the generation of the 80s and we are very proud of that. We have witnessed the most important evolution that the video game has undergone and we have enjoyed it widely. We have seen the introduction of the first home consoles in our lives, we survived the 16-bit battle and grew up in arcades. We were there, that day we jumped into 3 dimensions, we witnessed the materialization of the polygons and we were part of the short-lived generation cyber, the prelude to the game on-line that today the youngest players consider as something normal. For this reason, in this house we will always wave the current flag and the retro banner with the same force.
To say that we are professionals often sounds pretentious. It is an adjective that we give with all our respect to the editors of the media who qualify themselves with the same adjective. A good friend once told me that being a copywriter doesn't necessarily mean being a gamer. Understanding playing video games as a playful activity. Above all, we are players and we are here to talk about what we play and everything we have played, which is not a small thing, and share it with you without filters. We live the video game as a kind of religion, our sacred and personal space. A precious refuge where we obtain that necessary disconnection to combat and cushion the daily routine.
We will continue betting on the written format. We are of those who think that it is important to stop and dedicate a moment each day to read, if it is about your favorite hobby better. We will keep striving to improve and always offer the best items.
Our greatest satisfaction is talking about this powerful medium and honoring it with each entry we publish because BornToPlay is nothing more than a sincere and emotional tribute to the video game.
To finish, and no less important for that. I wanted to express once again a great thank you to our readers, to all the people who have supported us and those who stop for a moment every day to leave us a valuable comment on any of our posts, both on the web and on our social networks. That is the best reward. Thank you for your support, we hope to be with you writing about videogames for another ten years.
